Checking Out The Mansion

We had a great time at the ELT-P in Redlands. The trial was located at the Edwards Mansion and the site was a great combination of unique and challenging inside/outside searches. For those who love searching containers this trial was for you! There were 60 of them on the floor, on chairs and scattered around the room. There was also an abundance of distractors including but not limited to beef sticks, chicken marsala, manicotti, cheese bread, shrimp, egg, and the list goes on. 9 boxes had delicious distractors and gnocchi was the one box that got some of the teams. Thankfully, Scout and Beppo got through that search in one piece and with no “no, sorry”.

A word about the community. At its core, NACSW’s mission is about letting dogs do what they’re born to do—use their noses—while keeping the experience fun and rewarding at both ends of the leash. But another aspect is the community that has been built around this sport. It includes some wonderful people who support one another and share in the amazement of just how awesome of K9 teammates can be.

Trialing can be a little (or a lot) stressful, but the rewards of spending time with good people and your K9 best friend is far better than scrolling through your phone or watching the evening news. It can reenergize you and give you a boost to tackle other challenges and the days ahead. Enjoy the ride!
